Access keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the website. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. In some browsers you may then need to press Enter to activate the link.

Most pages on this site define the following access keys:

Standards compliance

1. All pages on this site aim to be accessible to WAI AA or better (AAA), complying with priority 1, 2 and 3 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines as interperated by the maintainer of the page. Should you encounter any difficulties relating to the level of accessibility of certain pages, please contact us to report the problem.
2. All pages on this site aim to validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional, and use CSS 2.1 for visual presentation. We don’t use tables for non-tabular information. This may cause older browsers (e.g. Netscape 4.x) which do not understand standards-compliant code to display pages in a very basic way. However, the pages should still be usable. Wherever possible, we would recommend upgrading your browser to the latest version number to take full advantage of this site’s advanced presentational features.
3. All pages on this site use structured semantic markup.
   • HTML heading tags are used to convey document structure. H1 tags are used for main titles and H2 tags for subtitles.
   • Navigation menus are marked up as HTML lists. This ensures that the number of links in the list is read out by a screen reader so that it may be easily skipped.
4. For users accessing the site using a screen reader, a hidden “skip navigation” option has been provided at the top of each page to facilitate easy access to the main content on the page.
5. All links have been written to make sense when taken out of context. Where appropriate, we have also added link title attributes to describe the link in greater detail.
6. To make it easier to read this website, all text has been made fully scaleable using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). You should be able to adjust the text by looking for the appropraite option in your browser preferences.
